FIRST SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING

TOPICS:

- Turbulence: moment of momentum conservation; large eddy simulation: sub-grid modeling, variable scale filtering and structure of the noncommutating filltered equations, noncommutation procedure; DNS and LES of shearless decaying mixings.

- Thin shear flows: laminar two-dimensional bluff body wake: boundary layer asympotic expansion solution, NS matched asymptotic expansions for the intermediate and far flow, linear nonparallel instability

- Compressible turbulent flow, astrophysical applications - application of the Kolmogorof theory to astrophysical accretion models; laboratory simulation of hypersonic jets by varying the ambient/ jet density ratio, partial similitude (Mach, density ratio) - for stellar jets.
