Description One of the main objectives of the Energy Center LAB initiative consists on designing a Multi-Energy-System (MES) Co-Simulation Platform able to qualitatively and quantitatively solve energetic transition scenarios [1]. The co-simulation infrastructure of Energy Center Lab resides on Mosaik, a flexible Smart Grid co-simulation framework that allows you to reuse and combine existing simulation models and simulators to create large-scale Smart Grid scenarios. Creating simulation scenarios combining different models is a complex task and Ontologies can help on this task. The aim of the thesis is the design of a Multi-Energy System Ontology (MESO) and integrate it into Mosaik. The candidate will be required to:
1. study the state-of-the-art of Energy ontologies;
2. design and develop a simple ontology for Multi-energy System scenario;
3. develop a reasoner to let Mosaik exploit the designed MESO ontology;
4. evaluate the performances of the overall infrastructure by exploiting a simulation scenario on smart grids.
