Thesis type EXPERIMENTAL

Description Frost phenomena in orchards can devastate crops, causing significant economic losses by harming delicate blossoms or immature fruits, and impairing overall tree health and productivity. Moreover, interpolating real-time measurements could help predict frosts and take actions to reduce damages, for example, specific irrigations or the usage of air mixers and heat generators.
The candidate will develop a low-cost low-power long-range electronic system using RF modules in LoRa technology. The thesis includes the design of a “shield” printed circuit board, the development of proper firmware, and the realization of a basic software architecture to generate real-time alarms using a provided algorithm. The final aim is the in-field test during spring 2025.

Required skills Microcontroller programming (especially C language), Printed Circuit Boards (PCB) design
