Description The thesis activity is part of a collaboration with Smat Company (Società Metropolitana Acque Torino).
The project aims to test the in-situ and ex-situ biomethanation of hydrogen electrochemically produced by hydrolysis of water.

The thesis activity foresees two parts, both experimental.
The first activity involves the running of a completely mixed anaerobic biological reactor used for the simultaneous anaerobic digestion of sewage sludge and in-situ hydrogen bio-methanation; the second part consists in the start-up of an anaerobic trickling filter used for the ex-situ hydrogen bio-methanation. In addition, the student will be engaged in analytical activities related to biological reactors operation.
