Thesis type DESIGN AND SIMULATIONS

Description The following thesis is part of the Cerebro European project, which aims at realizing the first technology in the field of neuroimaging capable of obtaining functional information of the entire brain with high spatial and temporal resolution and without skull trepanation. A new electrical contrast medium consisting of resonant microparticles the size of a red blood cell equipped with microelectrodes will be used to study brain activity. This thesis aims to further study ultra-low power and ultra-low voltage micro-oscillators with variable frequency. An in-depth study should be conducted on how electrical and metabolic brain activities can be used as part of the circuit to change the frequency. The frequency target must be higher than the natural frequency of neurons. The candidate will study and design the oscillator using 180 nm CMOS technology, paying particular attention to restrictive constraints concerning area and power consumption.
