Thesis type EXPERIMENTAL

Description The thesis aims to evaluate a semi-active exoskeleton for the upper limbs. The project plans to evaluate the reduction in muscle activity linked to the use of the exoskeleton.

Planned activities:

• Definition of the experimental protocol in the laboratory.
o Identification of the tasks to be carried out. Identification of the loads to be used. Identification of muscles to monitor.
o Definition of the setup in terms of type and positioning of the electrodes for each muscle.
o Definition of the kinematic and kinetic information to be acquired. Definition of the model for film analysis.
• Execution of a pilot protocol on two subjects
• Acquisition of EMG signals and kinematics (optoelectronic system) from 10-12 subjects during simulated work activities with and without the exoskeleton.
• Signal processing to evaluate differences in kinematics and muscle activation related to exoskeleton use.

The thesis should begin in March and the experimental data acquisition activity will take place approximately in March-April.

Required skills
Theoretical knowledge of motion analysis techniques with optoelectronic systems.
Theoretical knowledge of surface electromyographic signal analysis techniques.
Knowledge of the MATLAB environment
