Taking FINAL MSc EXAM and deadlines
The final exam for Master of science courses consists of a public defence of a thesis written by the student under a tutor’s guidance.
The rules, the procedure and the evaluation of the thesis are established by competent didactic structures, while the subject is decided together with the student’s tutor.

The procedure to submit the admission request is entirely on-line. For further details on the steps of the procedure please see the section “Final Exam” in the On-line Registrar’s Office.

The final paper is to be handed in within the deadlines fixed for each session of the academic calendar, according to these indications: a hard copy of the thesis at the Registrar’s Office 1st Floor (Segreteria Didattica Ingegneria), a copy to the tutor and a copy for the Graduation day.

The thesis has to be printed in UNI A4 format paper sheets, hard copy, signed by the candidate and by the tutor

N.B.: Please see the “Notice Board” section of your Master of Science course for possible peculiarities regarding the submission of abstracts and/or theses in electronic form.

Final Exam Evaluation
The final grade is set by the degree board, which will examine the overall score of the exams on 110.
The Degree Board will be able to add to this score up to 8 points considering:
  • the evaluation of the work done for the thesis (diligence, autonomy, methodological accuracy, significance of the results, etc.);
  • the presentation of the thesis (clarity in argumentation, etc.);
  • excellence of the course of studies (for example, number of exams passed with distinction, experience in universities and research centres abroad, possible extracurricular activities and students’ team etc.)
The award of a degree with honours is subject to the discretion to the board by a qualified majority (2/3 of the board members).
If the thesis has the required characteristics, the publication can be recommended only in case the final grade is 110 cum laude and with the board’s unanimous opinion.

In the count of the three days are included Saturday, Sunday and Festivities and the delivering must be done in the first working day of the secretary (from Monday to Friday).
i.e.: dissertation is on Monday, then the thesis delivering has to be done within Friday of the previous week. If Friday is a Festivity day, the delivering has to be on Thursday.
If for any reason, the student can’t deliver the thesis within the deadline, he must communicate it to the following email address: lauree.ing@polito.it.
