Erasmus+ is the EU programme for education, training, youth and sport in Europe. It was launched on 1st January 2014. Each participating university makes interinstitutional agreements with a number of universities from other EU or non-EU Erasmus+ countries. These agreements establish the cooperation model which is going to be implemented with each partner.
Politecnico encourages all students to take part in an international mobility programme. They can spend a semester abroad where they take official courses that will be recognized by Politecnico upon return. Bachelor’s students generally take part in the Erasmus+ Programme in their third year of study, while Master’s students normally go abroad during their second year.
Exams taken abroad with a positive outcome are validated by Politecnico on the basis of an agreement made between the student and his/her Erasmus+ Local Coordinator before departure. Students are recognized the maximum number of credits for the semester or year of enrolment.
As a general rule, partner universities want their exchange students to meet specific language requirements before admission. Moreover the European Union has urged all participating universities to specify their admission language requirements in their mobility agreements with the objective of strengthening transferrable skills for employment (i.e., proactiveness, digital and language competences). The European Union has also recommended that the level of language competency required for admission should be raised to B1. The information provided by the host universities on their language requirements is available in the Erasmus+ Calls for applications of Politecnico di Torino.
