Important notice for all merit-based course allocations
You are required to express your course preferences through the procedure for the definition of the Personal Study Plan - Annual Personal Study Plan indicated below:
to list your courses in order of preference make sure you include the course title and generic code of each exam. You can find the course titles and codes on the Teaching Portal: course catalogueMaster’s degree programmesname of your programmeCourse programme (curriculum). To express your order of preferences, log into your personal page of the Teaching Portal, go to “Segreteria online”, choose the box “Fill in your PSP/APSP” and click on “View more”.
Course allocation policy
After the deadline for course selection, Politecnico counts how many students have chosen each generic code. This number is equally distributed so that places in each course of the same kind are offered  to students on the basis of their preferences and position on the ranking list.
If too many students have chosen the same course and they have the same position on the raking list, places in the course will be offered taking into account the number of exams passed with honors by each student, and (subsequently) by random computerized drawing.
For allocations of first-semester courses merit is calculated taking into account the exams taken within the July 2019 examination session.
For allocations of second- semester courses  merit is calculated taking into account the exams taken within the September 2019 examination session.
Outgoing students must not express any preference for courses that are offered during the semester they will be away for.
Incoming students (double degree / Erasmus + / bilateral agreement) must not express any course preference at all. They will choose their Ateliers and Workshops with their Academic Advisor during a meeting which will take place at the beginning of the semester before classes start. The Incoming Mobility Office is in charge of course allocations for  incoming students. Decisions are made in accordance with the Academic Advisors on the basis of residual places.

Bachelor’s students who anticipate Master’s courses
If you are a Bachelor’s student intending to anticipate some courses which belong to your future Master’s degree programme (in order to take them during your Bachelor’s), you can list only your first-semester courses in order of preference within the deadline for the creation of your Annual Personal Study Plan. Students will be allocated these courses on the basis of a merit ranking list.
You must express your course preferencesfrom 1st August to 20th September 2019 (merit-based allocations).
If for any reason you do not express your course preferences during the specified period, you will have to choose one course only from the list of courses with residual places through a second phase(assignment of courses with residual places). The attribution will take into account the order of preference, expressed by each student in the process of defining the Personal Study Plan/ Annual Personal Study Plan, and the merit ranking.
If you have anticipated some Master’s courses, or if you, for any reason, have not made choices, can make your choices for second-semester courses only after enrolling in your Master’s degree programme (please check the table below).  We remind you that you can choose only from the courses with residual places.

Merit-based score calculation
(GR1 * CFU1) + (GR2 * CFU2) + (GRn * CFUn) + (overall weighted average grade* CFU of ungraded exams)

Merit-based score calculation

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
6 + Number of semesters from student’s first enrolment in a Master’s degree programme
"6" refers to the minimum number of semesters required to achieve a Bachelor’s degree.
The number of semesters is counted starting from the student’s first enrolment in a Master’s degree programme. Only the exams validated by Politecnico are taken into account for the score.
How to list your courses in order of preference
Merit-based allocations
After creating your Personal Study Plan/ Annual Personal Study Plan,  you will be redirected to a new page where you can express your course preferences only for the generic codes which are already included in your Annual Personal Study Plan. You can list your courses in order of preference (use the arrows or drag and drop the course title), as shown in Picture 1.
Picture 1.
Elective courses chosen from Specific Subjects (discipline caratterizzanti)
In order to achieve your Master’s degree you need to gain the credits of the 4 Specific Subjects that are included in your curriculum (see your Course programme).  As a general rule, you can gain these credits by taking:
  • 2 Design Units (one 14-credit Design Unit + one 20-credit Design Unit) and:
  • 2 regular courses (face-to-face classes).
In this case you must include in your Annual Personal Study Plan (APSP) the two Specific Subjects for which you have not gained any credits during your first-year Design Units. *
You must choose your specific subjects when you create your PSP/APSP.
Please note: since in the definition phase of the Personal Study Plan in the first year of the course the procedure still requires to indicate the two Specific Subjects not included in the Design Units, the latter assigned on the basis of the preferences expressed and a merit ranking, the initial choice of Courses related to the Specific Subjects could make the career plan initially defined no longer congruent. In this case it will be possible, during the definition of the PSP of the following academic year, to modify the indication of these teachings.
Among the Specific Subjects offered by Politecnico there are several courses with the same scientific disciplinary field. If demands exceeds available places on a course, Politecnico will use a merit-based criteria to readjust the number of students in each course. For this reason these course allocations are to be considered provisional until classes begin.
Elective courses chosen from Related Subjects (discipline affini o integrative)
If you want to attend a course of the Architecture construction city Master Degree which belongs to the group of Related Subjects (discipline affini o integrative), you must select and include it in your Personal Study Plan during the phase of PSP/APSP creation. Students are not allocated these courses on the basis of a merit ranking list.
*If you gained the credits of two Design Units which have the same Specific Subject, you must gain the credits of the other three Specific Subjects that you still lack.
