Determining the final grade
The final grade is assigned by the Graduation  Examining Committee who evaluates the overall Average grade of all the exams on a scale of 110. Given this average grade, the Graduation Examining Committee might normally add up to a maximum of 8 points, taking into consideration:
  • evaluation of the work you have carried out for your thesis (dedication, autonomy, methodological rigour, relevance of results, etc.);
  • your thesis oral defence (clarity in presentation, etc.);
  • outstanding results achieved during the course of your studies (for instance, the number of exams passed with honours, any experiences at foreign universities or research centers, extracurricular activities, participation in student team activities, etc.)
You may be awarded a degree with honours (cum laude) in accordance with the Regulations of your degree programme.
If your thesis has the necessary features, it may be recommended for publication (dignità di stampa). This is possible only by unanimous decision of the Graduation Examining Committee and provided that your final grade is 110 with honours.
