REQUIREMENTS
All students at Politecnico di Torino must demonstrate a B2 level (CEFR) of English language competency in order to earn their Bachelor’s degree.
All students must pass an English language exam (B2 level or above) in order to earn their Bachelor’s degree (graduation requirement).  
Having an English language certificate is an admission requirement if you are applying for an English-taught Bachelor’s degree programme or if you want to attend your first-year courses in English. In these cases, you must have an English language certificate (B2 level or above) before applying online on the Apply@polito platform of Politecnico website.
Update of 24th March 2021)* 
On 23/03/2021 The Academic Senate has approved the extension of the deadline to submit the Italian language certificate for students enrolled in a.y 2020/21 who submitted the Language declaration for covid-19 to 31st December 2021If the graduation takes place before the 31st December, the deadline to submit the certificate would be the one for the registration for the final examination.

EXAM PREPARATION 
The CLA offers self-study materials and several activities for each level of English. All information is available on the CLA websiteand via ticketing service (TICKET tab on your personal page of the Teaching Portal).
On the CLA website you can also find out more about IELTS sessions, registrations and exam structure.
You can register for the IELTS exam online from  your personal page of the Teaching Portal (LINGUE tab).
RECOGNITION OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE EXAM CREDITS
IELTS at PoliTO
You can take the IELTS exam at Politecnico in order to get a B2 level English language certificate (CEFR). If you pass the exam with the required score, you will automatically gain the English exam credits. You do not need to take any further action.
OTHER CERTIFICATES taken outside Polito
You can also get an English language certificate (B2 level or above) outside Politecnico.Your certificate must be included in the table available in the “Requirements” section. You must send a ticket to your Office of Student Services and provide the details of your certificate.
You do NOT need to send a scan copy of your certificate in the following cases

  • IELTS certificate: you must send a ticket with the TRF Number of your certificate (you can find this number on your certificate or in the message you received by e-mail when the results were published);
  • CAMBRIDGE certificate:
  • in your personal page of Cambridge website you must choose to share your results with Politecnico di Torino - see instructions at:
https://support.cambridgeenglish.org/hc/en-gb/articles/360021664771-Sending-your-results-to-a-recognising-organisation- Then, you must send a ticket with your Candidate’s ID Number;  
  • TOEFL certificate: certificate: you must specify the code of  Politecnico di Torino (unicode: C285) when you register for the TOEFL exam;
  • If you are unable to provide the above-mentioned information, you must send a ticket to your Office of Student Services uploading your CAMBRIDGE certificate or its statement of results, or your TOEFL certificate (if you had not indicated the unicode before).

For all other English certificates, you must show your original certificate to the Office of Student Services. Your English language exam will be recorded in your transcript and you will automatically gain the corresponding credits. The Office of Student Services will make a copy of your certificate and return the original back to you.

Considering that it takes a long time to receive the original certificate from the examination board, we recommend you get your certificate well in advance of the deadlines.
We remind you that English Language exams (graded or ungraded) taken at other universities are not accepted in substitution for the required English Language certificate.
IMPORTANT
As a consequence of the Covid-19 health emergency, some examination boards have suspended their language exams for international certificates. If you have been unable to get your English language certificate for this reason, please:
  • log in to the Apply@polito plaform
  • select the “Language skills” section and choose the option "language declaration for covid-19".
  • go to the “Attachment” section and upload this DECLARATION before the enrolment deadline
In this case, you are enrolled at Politecnico “WITH CONDITION” (conditional enrolment).
You need to drop this provisional condition before 30th June 2021 within 31st December 2021 by presenting your English language certificate (update of 24th March 2021)*

If you have an Italian high school diploma, you may be required to show your original English language certificate to the Office of the University Registrar. If you have a non-Italian high school diploma, you may be required to show your original English language certificate to the Incoming Mobility Office.
