Internal transfers - rules for a.y. 21/22 and following
Internal transfers between Bachelor’s degree programmes of the Engineering area are subject to the number of available places for each programme based on the programmed number of students of the previous academic year.
More details on how to apply for an internal transfer will be available in a specific Call that is going to be published next year during the summer. Here you can find the minimum requirements for internal transfers.
If you meet these requirements, you are allowed to apply for an internal transfer in accordance with the terms and deadlines that are going to be published in the Call.
If the number of students requesting an internal transfer exceeds the number of places available, Politecnico will draw a merit-based ranking list considering the number of credits, grades and duration of the university path of all applicants.
You are allowed to make an internal transfer from an Italian-taught degree programme to an English-taught programme, or vice versa:
- if you have the required English language certificate (or the Italian language certificate for students with a non-Italian high school diploma);
- only one time during your studies;
- if you have not taken nor registered any second-year exam (this rule applies also to continuing students enrolled in year 2 or beyond).

Students enrolled in a.y. 2020/2021 (coorte 2020/2021)
- internal transfer to another Bachelor's degree programme in Engineering (except for Industrial Production Engineering): this internal transfer is possible if you earn at least 26 credits in 1st-year exams (English Language exam excluded), by the end of the September examination session;
- internal transfer from any Engineering Bachelor’s degree programme to the programme in Industrial Production Engineering: you must take the admission test and be on the ranking list. Given the peculiarity of this course, if you make an internal transfer to this programme, you can go abroad to the partner University in the year which follows the one in which the transfer took place.
Students enrolled before a.y. 2020/2021
- internal transfer to another Bachelor's degree programme in Engineering (except for Industrial Production Engineering): this internal transfer is possible if you earn the required credits in the following subjects by the end of the September examination session: Mathematical Analysis I, Chemistry, Computer Science, Physics I and Geometry/Linear Algebra and Geometry.
- internal transfer from any Engineering Bachelor’s degree programme to the programme in Industrial Production Engineering: you must take the admission test and be on the ranking list. Given the peculiarity of this course, if you make an internal transfer to this programme, you can go abroad to the partner University in the year which follows the one in which the transfer took place.
If you do not meet the above-mentioned requirements, you will have to take the admission test and place yourself on the ranking list.
