Internship
Internships are offered to students as the first real chance to gain experience in the world of work. An internship gives you the opportunity to put into practice what you have learned during your studies and it will help you decide about your future professional career. Politecnico di Torino promotes internships and guarantees insurance coverage both for civil liability and occupational injuries.

Before starting an internship, you need to include it in your Personal Study Plan/Annual Personal Study Plan in the academic year in which you would like to do your internship.

The documents and general rules for internships are published at this LINK
Below you can find the specific guidelines for each degree programme.

GUIDELINES
 An internship is worth 6/12 credits  which correspond to a workload of 150/300 hours. You are supposed to do it during your 3rd year. You can do your internship, in accordance with your Academic Tutor and Company Tutor, during the whole academic year. However, it is recommended that the activity does not interfere with regular lessons. You can also do your internship abroad.

 You have two choices for your internship:
  • do your internship in a company suggested by Politecnico: you can choose one of the institutions/companies that have stipulated an internship agreement with Politecnico. The list of internships proposed by the institutions/companies can be found in the "STAGE" tab of your personal page;
  • find your company by yourself: you can propose a company that you are interested in to your academic tutor or to the Internship Coordinator (Prof. Roberto Vancetti).
If you want to suggest a company, you must:
  • declare that  the company has at least one engineer who is enrolled in the Register of Engineers since at least 5 years;
  • declare that you do not have family ties with any member of the company;
  • declare that the company is not owned by a professor of your degree programme.
It is not possible to obtain the recognition of activities/internships that you did in the past.
Additional Information
You can find the instructions about the platform that you need to use to upload your internship project and to report the internship progress till its completion at:

Execution and end of internship: work experience is organized by the Academic Tutor and Company Tutor, who liaise with each other in order to supervise the student. During the activity, you must inform your Academic Tutor about your job and progress in accordance with the content of the training project. You must write and send by email a short report every 15 days. At the end of your internship, you must write a report about the internship. Report contents and modalities are decided with your Academic Tutor, who will have to give a qualitative evaluation. The report must be signed by the Company Tutor.

Internship Coordinator: Prof. Roberto VANCETTI (roberto.vancetti@polito.it)

You are not allowed to obtain the recognition of activities that you have already carried out. The internship is considered as an activity formulated from scratch.

However, you are allowed to request the recognition of professional skills in substitution for your free choice credits. Please follow the procedure explained in the "Student Guide": free choice credits ---> other learning activities ---> other learning activities outside the University.
