Internship
Internships are offered to students as the first real chance to gain experience in the world of work. An internship gives you the opportunity to put into practice what you have learned during your studies and it will help you decide about your future professional career. Politecnico di Torino promotes internships and guarantees insurance coverage both for civil liability and occupational injuries.

Before starting an internship, you need to include it in your Personal Study Plan/Annual Personal Study Plan in the academic year in which you would like to do your internship.

The documents and general rules for internships are published at this LINK
Below you can find the specific guidelines for each degree programme.

GUIDELINES
You can do your internship either in public/private organizations and companies or in the laboratories of Politecnico or of other Universities. You can do your internship in Italy or abroad.
You must have earned at least 100 CFU in order to include the internship in your study plan. You can do your internship in any period of the academic year.

The internship can be included in your Personal Study Plan exclusively by the Internship Coordinator of your degree programme. Initially you need to include an optional course (Free ECTS credits 3rd year) in your PSP. Later, after earning the required number of credits, you will request the replacement of the optional course with the internship. You are allowed to replace an optional course (6 CFU - Free ECTS credits 3rd year) with a 6 CFU internship, equivalent to 150 hours.

 The requirements to request the inclusion of the internship in your study plan are the following:
  • you must have earned the required number of credits and you must have already contacted the host company;
  • you must ask  the host company to send an e-mail to the Internship Coordinator of your degree programme specifying their availability to host you as an intern and the scheduled period;
  • you must identify an Academic Tutor among Politecnico Faculty;
  • you must send an e-mail to the Internship Coordinator of your degree programme specifying the code and the title of the optional course (Free ECTS credits 3rd year) to be replaced and the code of the internship that you wish to start. If your study plan includes a compulsory internship, before you start the internship, you must request the authorization to activate the internship by sending an e-mail to the Internship Coordinator of your degree programme specifying the code of the internship, the host company and the scheduled period.

You are not allowed to obtain the recognition of activities that you have already carried out. The internship is considered as an activity formulated from scratch.

However, you are allowed to request the recognition of professional skills in substitution for your free choice credits. Please follow the procedure explained in the "Student Guide": free choice credits ---> other learning activities ---> other learning activities outside the University.
