Applying for the Final Project
1 - Thesis application
The Thesis application determines the general topic on which your Final Examination will focus.
You can apply for your Thesis through the online procedure provided that you have already included the Thesis credits in your Annual Personal Study Plan. 
The Thesis application is compulsory and must be submitted before starting to write your thesis.
 
You must fill out the Thesis application form through the online procedure available on your personal page of the Teaching Portal  - Online Services tab - Degree and Final Examination portlet. The deadlines for application submission are illustrated in the thematic calendar.
When you submit your Thesis application, you need to specify:
  • topic (previously agreed upon with your Supervisor from Politecnico di Torino);
  • Supervisor (Politecnico faculty member)
  • Co-supervisor, if any (he/she can be a person from another institution).
You will receive an e-mail to inform you about the outcome of your application (approval/rejection).
The approval of your thesis application:
  • determines the first Graduation period in which you are allowed to graduate. Your thesis application does not lose its validity. This means it can be used also for graduation periods that follow the one for which the application has been submitted;
  • can be modified (you can change your thesis topic, add a Co-supervisor or external institution). In this case, your Supervisor must inform the Office of Student Services;
  • can be cancelled if you want to change your thesis topic or choose a new Supervisor (send a ticket to the Office of Student Services). In this case, you need to check the dates of the next Graduation period and the deadlines for your thesis application.
It is possible to graduate submitting the Thesis application after the deadline. At the moment of the submission of the Thesis conclusion confirmation application and after the Tutor approves you will be charged 50 euro as a penalty fee. That must be payed when enrolling to the final examination.
2 - Thesis conclusion confirmation application and thesis deposit
The Thesis conclusion confirmation provides the final title of your thesis, its translation to English and the name of your Supervisor/s.
You need to complete the following online steps:
  • Log in to your personal page of the Teaching Portal - Online Services TAB;
  • click the link "Thesis conclusion confirmation application";
  • enter the final title of your thesis and its translation to English;
  • authorize Politecnico to check your thesis for plagiarism;
  • upload your thesis (PDF/A format) + annexes;
  • submit your application by clicking "REQUEST CONFIRMATION".

Please note that you cannot modify your data while your thesis is under the approval of your Supervisor.
You must submit your Thesis conclusion confirmation application in good time for registering for the Final Examination.
After submitting your thesis conclusion confirmation, your Supervisor will receive a message and will be able to see your application on his/her personal page.
Your Supervisor may:
  • confirm that you are eligible for graduation.
  • reject your request. In this case, you will receive an e-mail with the motivations.
 
If your Supervisor suggests you change the thesis title, you will be able to change it following the same procedure and submitting your application again.
When your Supervisors confirm that you are eligible for graduation, you will be able to register for the Final Examination. From this moment on, you will no longer be able to modify the title of your thesis.
You will be able to make some minor changes to your thesis in accordance with your Supervisor until you deposit your thesis ( you must upload the final version of your thesis in PDF/A format before the deadline for electronic thesis deposit available in the thematic calendar  - "Graduation periods" section.
3 - Thesis deposit
You must deposit the final version of your thesis in electronic format (PDF/A + annexes, if any) before the deadlines of the thematic calendar - Graduation periods. You must deposit your thesis file into the web space that you share with your Supervisor and you need to authorize Politecnico to do an anti-plagiarism check.

After this verification, your Supervisor can: 
  • approve your thesis and confirm your admission to the oral defence
  • definitively reject your thesis, cancel your name from the list of students registered for the oral defence and postpone you to a new session.
Please note that after depositing the final version of your electronic thesis you will no longer be able to modify it. Your presentation in front of the Graduation Examining Committee must reflect the contents of the thesis you have deposited.
You do not need to submit any hard copy of your thesis to the Office of Student Services/Library).
