How to pass the mandatory Italian language exam
At the end of the Italian language course of the level corresponding to the mandatory Italian exam included in your APSP, you have two different options:
  • take the Italian Language Exam at Politecnico di Torino:
    • Register from your personal page of the Teaching Portal -  Career section -  Exam Booking
      • Take the Italian language exam during one of the standard examination sessions (in accordance with the deadlines and procedures set out in the Student Guide)
      • If you pass the exam, the Italian language exam will be recorded with a Pass in your transcript
      • Please note that if you pass the Italian language exam you will not obtain any Italian language certificate
  • take the PLIDA Italian Certificate Exam at Politecnico di Torino:
    • Register from your personal page of the Teaching Portal  - Teaching section  – Languages – Italian – PLIDA
      • get a PLIDA Italian language certificate by taking the PLIDA exam organised at Politecnico di Torino. In this case, the Italian language exam will be recorded with a Pass in your transcript after the official PLIDA certificate has been received.
      • Politecnico di Torino organises PLIDA exam sessions for CEFR levels A2, B1, B2, C1.
      • Information on exam dates and registration procedures for sessions held at Politecnico di Torino will be published on the PLIDA at Politecnicopage.
PLEASE NOTE
  • If you choose to take the PLIDA exam instead of the Italian language exam, make sure you carefully consider both the time required for the PLIDA certificate to be issued and the deadlines for your degree programme.
  • The PLIDA exam is not the Italian language exam and is governed by different rules. Before registering, carefully read all the information on the PLIDA at Politecnico  page: Absence from PLIDA Exam, Cancellation of PLIDA Registration, and Justifying an Absence from the PLIDA Exam.
  • Please note that the registration procedures are different:
    • To register for the Italian language exam,  log in to your personal page of the Teaching Portal - Career section - Exam Booking portlet
    • To register for a PLIDA exam session organised by Politecnico di Torino, log in to your personal page of the Teaching Portal  - Teaching section  – Languages – Italian – PLIDA.  You must also create an account on the PLIDA website, following the instructions provided on the PLIDA at Politecnico  page.
How to present an Italian language certificate obtained outside Politecnico An alternative way to fulfil the Italian language exam requirement is to present one of the Italian language certificates listed in the table published on the website of the Language Centre (CLA).

If you have an Italian language certificate (A2 or B1 level - with the required minimum score) obtained from an examination board outside Politecnico, you must upload it to your personal page of the Teaching Portal > Personal Area section > Language Certificates Upload portlet.
You must fill out the online form and upload - if asked by the system- a scanned copy of your language certificate.  Please fill in the following fields:

    • Lingua/language:  "Italian"
    • Famiglia/Family: enter the type of certificate you have got;
    • Certificato/Certificate: enter the language level;
    • Data certificazione/Certificate date: enter the date on which you got your certificate.
Our offices will check your language certificate. If your certificate is accepted, the Italian language exam included in your Annual Personal Study Plan will be automatically registered in your transcript of records. Considering that it may take a long time to receive the original certificate from the examination board, we recommend you get your certificate well in advance of the deadlines established by your degree programme.
