The Chemical and Food Engineering degree program aims at training a professional figure, who will be able to enter the world of industrial production in many areas thanks to the cross curricular background rooted in a strictly industrial engineering mind-set.

Chemical engineering is first and foremost a process engineering, so it focuses particularly on transformation technologies in the manufacturing industry; the degree program makes an in-depth review of the traditional chemical processes, and of the food industry processes, that are similar but can vary in some particular processes and machinery. 
The training aims to enable graduates to enter the professional chemical engineering sector and to communicate with an appropriate technical language and a solid background in industrial engineering.
The overall structure of the teaching modules and their related credits, is able to guarantee both the required background to access an MSc, with no obligation to attend additional courses, and an adequate professional training to enter the job market.

The skills acquired will allow the graduate to easily enter the world of chemical engineering in the broad sense of the word: in the pharmaceutical, petro-chemical, and in general in any transformation and processing engineering, particularly food engineering.  The chemical engineer is certainly able to provide his services skilfully and flexibly within many industrial engineering organisations, but will maintain a well defined subset of skills particular to the chemical sector. Other opportunities may be represented by industrial laboratories, technical departments in public institutions acting on industrial health & safety and environmental protection, consulting companies and technical design firms. 

‚Ä®Students have the possibility of selecting a number of modules, among the free ones, that will give them a more in-depth knowledge of the food industry processes, of environmental issues and product recycling, or of quality management.   

What is the difference between Chemistry and Chemical Engineering?
Compared to the chemistry graduate, the chemical engineer combines a background in chemistry, necessary to understand the nature and processes of chemicals, with an engineering approach to the solution of problems on an industrial scale. The chemical engineer, apart from the chemical phenomena, must consider many elements of a process: from the transfer of substances and energy, to management and business factors, from health & safety issues to environmental issues.
