This pathway is fully taught in english (some courses are also offered in Italian).
The pathway in geotechnical engineering aims at training professionals with:
- a balanced portfolio in theoretical and applied soil mechanics, including a good knowledge of experimental and computational tools for the assessment of the static as well as dynamic behaviour of soils and rocks;
- knowledge of the main procedures for the geotechnical characterization of soils and rocks in support of the design of civil structures and infrastructure as well as the assessment of natural risks;
- skills for the analysis and design of foundations, underground constructions, retaining walls and embankments.
- advanced skills for the design of interventions aiming at improving the stability the of slopes and soil reinforcement.
