ADMISSIONS A.Y. 2018/2019
Before reading this document, please read the general Admission Rules for Politecnico di Torino Master's degree programmes of  the architecture area.
To apply for our Master's degree programmes you need to fill out the application form, available on the Apply@polito portal from your personal page of the Teaching Portal.
You can  apply for a maximum of two Master's degrees programmes and you need to rank them in order of preference:  if you are considered eligible for both programmes,  you will only be allowed to enrol in the Master's degree programme which you  indicated as your first choice.
You can apply for admission if you have already graduated or if you are still a student and you  have earned at least 140 credits by July 2018 (this is considered the minimum number of credits for the assessment of your previous academic records).
The deadlines for the submission of the application are illustrated in the Deadlines section.
Failure to comply with these procedure and deadlines will result in your automatic exclusion from admission to our Master's degree programmes.
In order to be admitted to a Master's degree programme, you need to meet the curricular requirements, the  language requirements and have achieved an academic performance considered suitable for admission.

You will be allowed to enrol if you obtain your Bachelor’s degree before September 2018.

If you are enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree programme at Politecnico and you are admitted to a Master's degree programme of the Collegio di Architettura,  you are allowed to anticipate some exams belonging to your future Master’s degree programme and take them during your Bachelor’s studies (see “Advancing your Master’s courses”).You can anticipate only first-semester courses of your Master’s first year.
You are allowed to enrol in a Masters’ degree programme in the second semester only if:
  • you are a student from Politecnico
  • you have anticipated some of the exams of the Master's degree programme
  • you have obtained your Bachelor's degree within February/March
  • you have the required average grade or  you have passed the admission test in September 2018.
Curricular requirements and suitable academic performance
Curricular requirements
Politecnico verifies if you meet the curricular requirements for admission through the Apply@polito portal.
The curricular requirements for admission are:
  • Bachelor’s degree (class L-17 or class 4 ex D.M. 509/99), or
  • three-year Bachelor's degree or university diploma, or
  • other suitable academic qualification obtained outside Italy
Another mandatory curricular requirement is that you must have completed the compulsory courses and activities listed in the  Table of Class L-17 of the Bachelor’s degree programmes in Architecture.
Language requirements
You are required to have an English language certificate - IELTS 5.0 or other certificate accepted in substitution for IELTS - in order to apply. The English language certificate is an admission requirement. This means that without this certificate you will not be admitted to our Master’s degree programmes.
If you do not meet this language requirement by the deadline for enrolment, you can enrol in single courses. In this case you should choose the first-semester courses of the first year of the Master’s degree to which you have been admitted. Politecnico graduates are given this opportunity  so they can obtain the English language certificate within the deadline for enrolment in second semester without delaying their studies.  If you get your language certificate (original copy) by 5th March 2019 you will be able to enrol in your Master’s degree programme in second semester of a.y. 2017/2018. The courses attended (pending examination) and the exams already passed will be automatically validated. More information is available in the Student Guide 2018/2019 of your programme - Enrolment in single courses.
Please check the tables below to find out which Bachelor’s degree are required for admission to each Master’s degree programme offered by Politecnico.

Suitable academic performances
Direct admission without admission test
You can be admitted without having to take the admission test if:
you have completed your Bachelor’s degree in 4 years or less(1), with a weighted average grade of all the exams (2)  equal to or greater than 27/30;
you have completed your Bachelor’s degree in more than 4 years but less than 5 years(1), with a weighted average grade of all the exams (2)  equal to or greater than 28/30.
The weighted average grade is calculated on all accrued course credits (graded on a scale of 30) counting towards the achievement of the Bachelor’s degree, after having subtracted the worst 28 credits (these 28 credits will not be subtracted in case of career credit recognition).
The duration of your university career is calculated on the basis of the number of academic years you have been enrolled for:
  • 1 year for each academic year of full-time enrolment;
  • 0,5 year for each academic year of part-time enrolment
(1) you must have graduated by December in order to meet the requirement related to the average grade
(2) the weighted average is calculated as follows: (grade*credits) /credits
Admission by admission test

You can apply for admission when you reach 140 credits in your Bachelor’s degree programme.  Nevertheless, your average grade and your time to graduation may change before you obtain your Bachelor’s degree. Having considered all this, you can decide to register for the admission test in any case,  even if on the date of application submission you are eligible for direct admission without having to take the admission test.
Politecnico allows you to register for the admission test so that you have an additional chance to be admitted in the event that your average grade decreases or your time to graduation increases.
Enrolment
Your offer of admission is only valid for the academic year in which you submitted your application. This means that if you are admitted to the programme but you eventually do not enrol, you will have to apply again for admission in future academic years.
More information on how to submit your application and how to enrol is available in the Online application section.
