2nd level Specializing Master's Programme in
Artificial Intelligence & Cloud: Hands-on innovation (2021-2022)
IoT - Hands-on
In the field of IoT the students will learn and implement an end-to-end IoT ecosystem starting by learning the different state-of-art IoT hardware platforms, both open and proprietary and the basic principles of co-design of mixed hardware/firmware/software systems.
The training will have a hand-on approach and each lesson will be complemented by a working session on IoT development boards from ST Microelectronics and/or Raspberry PI to interconnect sensors, install and configure an edge operating systems and send data to a back-end applications. The course will cover the most relevant ioT platforms such as Microsoft Azure, Google and Amazon AWS IoT Hubs as well as open source software such as Eclipse Kura/Kapua and Linux EdgeX. Each participant will be challenged in integrating real-world sensors into a full edge application, with a special focus on performances and sustainability of the IoT design (low energy, reusable components, low carbon emissions etc.) and applications.
Most of the hours will be dedicated to the hands-on part and each exercise will be done by advancing a group project against a planned objective.
