EPF
EPF was founded in 1961 in Carrù, a quaint town at the doorstep of the Langhe, and specializes in the fields of industrial automation, renewable energy and plastic injection molding on national and international scale as well. Over the years, EPF has expanded into three different business units, each operating in one of the sectors mentioned above and each made of highly specialized technicians.
EPF AUTOMATION, the original business unit, handles projects related to industrial automation, EPF ENERGY deals with the realization of renewable energy power plants and EPF PLASTIC provides plastic injection molding plants. Because of its strong involvement in the field of industrial technology, EPF has become the official distributor and service partner of Toshiba Machine, global leader for production of plastic injection molding machines.
The company is structured with an internal Electrical, Mechanical and Software Engineering Department. In addition, 5% of the staff works every day in collaboration with the main Italian and foreign Universities and Research Centers on the solutions of the future: Innovative Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Neural Networks, Vision Systems and Numerical Modeling.
These synergic and proactive collaborations led to the creation of innovative products and solutions which were then proposed on the market. The latest projects developed internally for the industrial automation part concern prototypes of systems with anthropomorphic and / or collaborative robots, associated with new applications of artificial intelligence and machine learning with vision systems for the food & packaging sector. The goal is to provide new technological solutions in response to the needs of a constantly evolving market.
The desire to build a future of technological progress, combined with the ability to remain faithfully linked to its history and values, has allowed EPF to engage in business on the international market.
EPF will offer to the selected students a job opportunity, hiring them at the beginning of the Master Course (May 2020) through a HIGH APPRENTICESHIP CONTRACT (ex Art.45 - D. Lgs 81/2015). The contract will have the following features:

There are two positions available:
  1. Mechatronic Engineer
  2. Electrical or Electronic Engineer
Job Description n. 1:
EPF is looking for a Mechatronic Engineer for its headquarter in Carrù (CN), to be hired with a permanent contract. He/She will work with a skilled internal engineering team in order to design automated solutions for industrial automation plants.
The candidate will operate within the Mechanical Engineering Department of EPF company.He\she will receive a specific trading about the internal design procedures and will be supported in all phases of the project by a senior engineer.
The candidate will have to ensure a proper design, introduction and development of robotic systems to be installed on new production lines.
After a proper and customized period of introduction and in line with the specificities of the plants provided by EPF and the technological and production development strategies, he\she will start personally to take care of relationship with suppliers, carrying out the tests and, up to acceptance, installation and start-up of the machinery.
Additionally he\she will also be in closed collaboration with other technological development in the mechatronic field, in particular in the design of equipment by using innovative solutions with 3D vision system and artificial intelligence. The candidate will be also involved in:

  • Supporting the mechatronic team for the development and design of innovative robotics solution;
  • Elaborate drafts - taking into account standardizations;
  • Create design drawings, parts lists (BOMs) and technical specifications for production and purchased parts, including maintenance of the articles;
  • Collaborate with internal department (Electrical, R&D Engineering, Software and Manufacturing department);
  • Supervise installation, test and commissioning of the plants set-ups

A Junior Candidate with the following technical Features and Soft Skills
  • Have a real passion and enthusiasm for innovation and technologies, especially for mechatronics and robotics.
  • Basilar experience as project, mechanical or design engineer in the industrial automation field
  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronic Engineering
  • Good technical skills with 3D modeling tools (Solidworks) and AutoCAD
  • Basic knowledge of robotic design and vision system will be preferred
  • Assertiveness, reliability and open-mindedness
  • High bias for action
  • Strong commitment
  • Accountable for results
  • Good knowledge of Italian and English, both written and spoken
  • Available to short business travel, especially in Italy
Job Description n. 2:

He\she will receive a specific trading about the internal software design procedures and will be supported in all phases of the project by a senior engineer.
The candidate will have to ensure a software design, introduction and development of robotic systems to be installed on new production lines.He\she will also be involved deeply in other technological development in the mechatronic field, in particular in the design of equipment by using innovative solutions with 3D vision system and artificial intelligence.
After a proper and customized period of introduction and in line with the specificities of the plants provided by EPF, he\she will start personally to take care of relationship with suppliers, carrying out the tests and, up to acceptance, installation and commissioning of the machinery.
The candidate will be also involved in:

  • Supporting the Software Department for the development and design of innovative robotics solution;
  • Development of software taking into account standardizations;
  • Collaborate with internal department (Mechatronic, Electrical, R&D Engineering and Manufacturing department);
  • Providing assistance at installation, test and commissioning of the plants.

A Junior Candidate with the following technical Features and Soft Skills

  • Experience of programming with application level languages: C#, C++
  • Basic knowledge of robotic design and vision system will be preferred.

EPF will select the candidates with a pre-screening of the CVs and reserves the right to contact only the students who will fulfill the internal selection criteria. An official answer as well will be provide to everyone.
Candidates will be assessed in two steps. During the first step, the candidates will be assessed by HR and CTO on personal features as far as motivation, attitude, training. In the second step Managers of different departments, will assess technical aspects which are important for the foreseen roles.
