This class will present transmission techniques for long-haul transmission on optical fiber links, as required in back-bone networks. So, transmission distances range from few hundred of km up to thousand of km. State of the art transceivers will be introduced together with transmission impairments modeling. Peculiarities of time and frequency distribution signals will be addressed.
