Trained as Specialist in Sport and Exercise Medicine, Dr Susta has been working since 1999 as practitioner / medical director in sports medicine clinics delivering the full range of clinical sports medicine services (from Pre-Participation Health Screening to rehabilitation/return to play after injury).
Dr Susta has been appointed member of the Medical Research Committee of the Italian Federation for Winter Sports and of the International Federation Skyrunning.
He has worked as consultant for many Olympic and International level athletes ranging from Cross-Country skiers to Triathlon athletes, from Ice Hockey to Football players, from extreme sports athletes to Ice dancers. He worked as Head Team Physician for a professional basketball team (Olimpia Milano, Italy) and he is now consultant at Tennis Ireland High Performance Academy.
Dr Susta currently teaches Sports Medicine in the Athletic Therapy and Training BScHon. Programme at Dublin City University and he has been invited to give lectures and workshops in Universities and Congresses in Italy, UK, Poland, Russia, Qatar and Spain.
Dr Susta research interests are centred around advancing and improving sports medicine practices by developing new training/assessment/rehabilitation methods, equipments and services.
He is the inventor of a patented innovative leg press used by top alpine skiers and more recently his contribution was essential to further develop a novel approach/equipment to isoinertial training/rehabilitation now used by many professional athletes and teams around the world.
