Le informazioni dettagliate sull’insegnamento tirocinio sono consultabili sulla GUIDA STUDENTI, sezione TIROCINIO, dell’anno accademico in corso.
Detailed information about the internship program can be found in the STUDENT GUIDE, under the INTERNSHIP section, for the current academic year.
The insertion of an internship in the study plan is bound by having already acquired at least 100 credits of attendance, this to avoid doing an internship too early, when knowledge and skills are still premature. Though there are no explicit technical prerequisites, it is advisable to carefully check, when choosing and planning the internship, what the prerequisites described and/or required by the company are. How to search and choose an internship An internship can be activated either by choice, from a list of internship offers on the Politecnico web portal, or through a proposal made directly by a student, who has already made agreements with a company. Internship proposals and student-company assignments are therefore made through a mechanism that provides two possibilities: a) An initial phase of collecting proposals from companies, whose internship proposals are visible to students through the teaching portal. A student can apply for these internships, optionally attaching a curriculum. Once further interactions with the company have occurred, and approval or selection has been made by it, one can move on to the next phase, the "training project" b) Following direct contacts between a company and a student, interested in carrying out an internship, it is possible that the two parties agree on the times, contents and methods of carrying out the internship. Once the Internship Agreement, between Politecnico and the company (in case 'a' the company has already entered into the Agreement, in case 'b' it depends: if no Agreement has been signed yet, it has to be stipulated as a first step), the procedure for signing the "training project" can be started directly. An exhibition-type event is organized annually as part of the "Time for Job" initiative (https://careerservice.polito.it/aziende/eventi_fieristici) for ICT (also called INFOSTAGE), in order to encourage contacts between students and companies in view of internships. Participation in the event is strongly recommended to all students who want to take the opportunity to meet, in an extremely informal and direct context, a few dozen companies interested in offering curricular internships.
How to activate an internship An internship is activated by stipulating a training project, as described in the section “The computer procedure for managing internships”. The training project, in addition to containing the title/topic and the timing of the internship, is approved by the company (company tutor), by the academic tutor and the supervisor for the traineeships of the course of study. a) The company tutor is appointed by the company. It has the task of planning the internship in detail and following its progress. It will also give a final evaluation. b) The academic tutor is a professor from the Politecnico, belonging to the area of reference for the course of study, with the task of verifying the correct start-up of the internship and expressing a final assessment (approval, as passed teaching module) of the internship. The tutor should be contacted in the event of any problems, but in principle it should not be considered as a "technical" reference point (unlike the company tutor) for the internship itself. In order to favor a balanced load between the teachers who act as tutors, trainees are advised, except in special cases of previous agreement between company/student and teacher, not to explicitly indicate the name of an academic tutor in the "training project", the tutor will be indicated by the contact person for the traineeships of their course of study. c) The supervisor for the training course placements is a teacher who carries out the tasks of organizing and managing the entire procedure for implementing the curricular placements. How to do an internship The internship must be carried out by presence in the company, with a calendar and timetable in accordance with the training project. The actual attendance must be reported on the "timesheet", according to the procedures described under “The computer procedure for managing internships”: note that slight discrepancies are possible between the weekly plan/schedule (the training project) and the final the timesheet, however, the constraint of the total number of hours is mandatory. The activity carried out corresponds in terms of objectives and content to the training project, but it obviously requires further planning and implementation steps, to be agreed in principle with the company tutor. It is worth noticing that both the student and the company could possibly terminate an internship (the withdrawal must be motivated, hearing the academic tutor and possibly the supervisor for the internships). Though this is a rather rare event, it is advisable to handle it by avoiding the two extreme cases: excessive alarmism, i.e. immediate withdrawal, without checking for any corrective actions, or very late interruption of an internship, after having carried out, while fully aware of the problems, a significant part. In the face of an interruption/withdrawal, we recommend activating a new internship, or changing the study plan (according to the available rules) with removal of the internship itself. Conclusion and evaluation of the internship The formal closing of the internship takes place according to the procedures described in the next point ("The computer procedure for managing internships"). For the ICT area, the student is expected to draw up an internship report. Once the internship is finished, it is advisable to complete the online procedure, attaching the report within one month of the end of the internship (August is not counted). The report is viewed by the academic tutor who will then proceed with the approval/evaluation of the internship, as a teaching module. The computer management procedure for internships Instructions on the platform through which students can insert their internship project and track / report the internship progress until its completion, can be found at: https://didattica.polito.it/pdf/Procedura_Lato_Studente.pdf tirocini.ict@polito.it REFERENTI Prof. PASSERONE Claudio (Elettronica) Prof. PIRRI Candido (Fisica) Prof. CABODI Gianpiero; Prof. NOVARA Carlo (Informatica) Prof. ALBERTENGO Guido (Telecomunicazioni, ECE) Prof. MAZALI Tatiana (Cinema) PER IL PROGETTO POLITONG: Prof. BONANI Fabrizio PER IL PROGRAMMA ERASMUS+: Prof. DEMARCHI Danilo

In addition to the message sent by the online system, students with disabilities or Specific Learning Disorders (SLD) are invited to directly inform the professor in charge of the course about the special arrangements for the exam that have been agreed with the Special Needs Unit. The professor has to be informed at least one week before the beginning of the examination session in order to provide students with the most suitable arrangements for each specific type of exam.
