The course desires re-start your knowledge of Geographic Information System (G.I.S.) by introducing (and using) an open source software (QGIS). This in order to provide students with the basic skill to start future and complex analysis. Best practices and tools for landscape planning will be shared also.
The course desires re-start your knowledge of Geographic Information System (G.I.S.) by introducing (and using) an open source software (QGIS). This in order to provide students with the basic skill to start future and complex analysis. Best practices and tools for landscape planning will be shared also.
Students will become familiar with GIS (or they buy back on it), QGIS and the "Free and Open Source Software Community". Property of language, clarity and "visual" representation of data are the pillars of this short intro.

- Definition of G.I.S. - Open data and licenses - How to search (and where find) data and information - Workspace creation and management - Introduction to QGIS (free) software - Description of the GUI, windows, panels, plugins - Geographic data (geographic and projected coordinates) and tables - Data format (SHP, GPKG, CSV ...) - Operations on tables and data associated with geometries - Working on attributes and strings (field calculator) - Operations on geographic data (import / export) - Relationships between tables (joins) - Data representation ("Thematization") - Main "geoprocessing" tools (clip, dissolve, intersect, overlay ...) - Creating a print (dynamic) layout - Creation of a fast map for the WEB (qgis2web)

ModalitÓ di esame: Prova scritta in aula tramite PC con l'utilizzo della piattaforma di ateneo;
Exam: Computer-based written test in class using POLITO platform;
Gli studenti e le studentesse con disabilitÓ o con Disturbi Specifici di Apprendimento (DSA), oltre alla segnalazione tramite procedura informatizzata, sono invitati a comunicare anche direttamente al/la docente titolare dell'insegnamento, con un preavviso non inferiore ad una settimana dall'avvio della sessione d'esame, gli strumenti compensativi concordati con l'UnitÓ Special Needs, al fine di permettere al/la docente la declinazione pi¨ idonea in riferimento alla specifica tipologia di esame.

In addition to the message sent by the online system, students with disabilities or Specific Learning Disorders (SLD) are invited to directly inform the professor in charge of the course about the special arrangements for the exam that have been agreed with the Special Needs Unit. The professor has to be informed at least one week before the beginning of the examination session in order to provide students with the most suitable arrangements for each specific type of exam.
