The course is intended to provide Doctoral students with the theoretical knowledge necessary in order to study homogeneous and heterogeneous materials with time-dependent mechanical properties. The course has a strong applied character and as a result it includes laboratory activities. During laboratory activities the theoretical concepts presented during lectures will be applied for the rheological characterization of materials proposed by Doctoral students by making use of equipment available at the RheoLab. Finally, case studies linked to several areas of civil, environmental, chemical and industrial engineering will be presented, with the consequent possibility of fully appreciating the usefulness of rheology for a scientific approach in solving practical problems.
