The course - fundamental and transdisciplinary - provides the basic knowledge (theoretical and methodological principles, tools) to operate in the field of qualitative-quantitative evaluation, during all project phases (for example ante-, meta- and post-) of products, services and industrial processes, combining the cultural, social, environmental, technical and economic-financial dimensions in a multi-criteria perspective. With the support of data, the designer is in fact able to build processes that take into account the evolution of production, diffusion and consumption scenarios and the necessary inclusion of all the actors in the territory, in whatever way they are involved in the project. Precisely starting from this state of the art, during the course particular attention will be paid to aspects related to User Experience and connections/interactions with the project actors present in the area (analyzing public and private stakeholders). Furthermore, teaching will be aimed at developing the managerial aspects of the process.

Knowledge of the design approaches to product/service/process. Knowledge of the performance approach (needs, requirements, performances). Knowledge of the holistic approach to managing complexity.

Introduction to the topic of Design and complexity. Excursus on the performance and holistic approaches, the major differences between the Turin, Italian and international contexts. Overview of Data-Driven Design Methodologies. Overview of demand analysis approaches and other data-driven methods during the design process. Methods of data retrieval, elaboration, interpretation and use in the process. Overview of current tools, depending on the project, the context, the actors, the people (be they users, customers, patients or others). Application case studies.
