PERIODO: APRILE - MAGGIO Il corso si propone di fornire le conoscenze di base sulla struttura cristallografica delle sostanze cristalline e sull’interazione della radiazione X con la materia. Particolare attenzione verrà rivolta alla diffrazione dei raggi X da parte di materiali cristallini, fenomeno che sta alla base di una delle tecniche di caratterizzazione microstrutturale di più largo impiego.

PERIOD: APRIL - MAY The course aims to provide the basic knowledge on crystallographic structure of crystalline substances and on the interaction of radiation X with the matter. Particular attention will be spent to X-ray diffraction by crystalline materials, a phenomenon that is at the basis of one of the techniques of microstructural characterization of wider use.

Raggi-X : natura, produzione, proprietà. L’interazione dei raggi-X con la materia. I metodi sperimentali per la diffrazione dei raggi-X. Elementi di cristallografia. Significato dell’intensità della radiazione diffratta. Riconoscimento delle fasi cristalline. Analisi quantitativa di miscele .La diffrazione dalle sostanze non cristalline.Analisi del profilo di diffrazione da polveri e metodi di affinamento strutturale. La tecnica della microdiffrazione. Determinazione delle tensioni residue..Case studies.
