PERIOD: NOVEMBER The knowledge of Environment, infrastructure and the building heritage, architectural and cultural heritage can be represented using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) that allow you to organize a lot of information in a organized approach (following to the logic of the database) and georeferencing them on the Earth surface (geo). Geomatics science is able to offer techniques and tools which allow to acquire the spatial data and to collect information in a single box, where the data can be stored, extracted, queried, processed and displayed in an integrated manner according to the applications where they are used. The aim of this course is to describe the different types of data, which are used in GIS (geometric, descriptive and descriptors), how to use and to querying the data, 2D and 3D visualization and representation, paying particular attention to the research and the use of free data (open data ). We will analyze the methodological issues related to the design process necessary to properly build a GIS, starting from an external model to the conceptual model (entity-relationship), the logical model (relational) for reaching its practical implementation (internal model) with commercial tools (ArcGIS) and open source packages. Particular emphasis will be placed on specific analyzes which are realized in environment and land management field of even in an emergency situation, in order to answer to the land management and planning request.

Definitions: What are the GIS , the constituent components , the geometrical data (raster and vector) , descriptive ( the attributes contained in the database ), descriptors (metadata) Availability, quality and use of Open data , crowdmapping The digital map as the main geometrical support , from traditional cartography to digital map, nominal scale, horizontal and vertical content , geometric and topological structure , the process of production. GIS design : the external model, conceptual model ( entity-relationship ) creation, modeling in the relational model for the final realization (internal model ) for GIS Management System. GIS 3D: elevation models , digital terrain model (DTM) and digital surface model ( DSM) , the built representation using entities of volume, 3D City Model WebGIS for the distribution of information in Pervasive Environments : the WMS , WFS , and GIS geonode shared. The information from the satellite and the emergency management. Examples and applications in urban , municipal, provincial and regional management and planning.

Modalità di esame:
Exam:
...
Exam:
In addition to the message sent by the online system, students with disabilities or Specific Learning Disorders (SLD) are invited to directly inform the professor in charge of the course about the special arrangements for the exam that have been agreed with the Special Needs Unit. The professor has to be informed at least one week before the beginning of the examination session in order to provide students with the most suitable arrangements for each specific type of exam.
