Il corso si presenta come il primo momento didattico inerente il restauro architettonico all’interno del corso di studi della Laurea Triennale in Architettura. Pertanto, si chiarirà il significato del valore della disciplina del restauro in ambito soprattutto architettonico, concentrandosi sul rapporto esistente fra teoresi e prassi della conservazione. Il corso ha l’obiettivo di fornire agli studenti adeguati mezzi teorico-metodologici per acquisire competenze critiche in materia di tutela, conservazione e restauro dei beni architettonici.
The course is the first didactic moment concerning architectural restoration within the course of studies of the Bachelor's Degree in Architecture. Therefore, the significance of the value of the restoration discipline in the architectural field will be clarified, focusing on the relationship between conservation theory and practice. The course aims to provide students with adequate theoretical-methodological means to acquire critical skills in the protection, conservation, and restoration of architectural heritage.
Tra i risultati attesi si prevede la capacità di leggere e di valutare correttamente le principali trasformazioni e tutti gli interventi di restauro presenti all’interno di un organismo architettonico, urbano, archeologico ecc; la formazione di una rinnovata sensibilità nei confronti del patrimonio e del costruito storico e la consapevolezza delle principali trasformazioni che hanno avuto luogo nelle differenti epoche. Questi risultati, e altri ancora, sono finalizzati alla creazione di una conoscenza utile in ambito culturale e operativo allo scopo di individuare le scelte più idonee per conservare, valorizzare e gestire i Beni Architettonici e Paesaggistici.
Among the expected results, the ability to read and correctly evaluate the main transformations and all restoration interventions present within an architectural, urban, archaeological body, etc. is expected; the formation of a renewed sensitivity towards heritage and historical buildings and awareness of the main transformations that have taken place in different eras. These results, and others, are aimed at creating useful knowledge in the cultural and operational sphere in order to identify the most suitable choices to preserve, enhance and manage the Architectural and Landscape Heritage.
Lo studente dovrà possedere conoscenze storiche per leggere in modo critico i segni materiali e immateriali del costruito. Deve inoltre avere acquisito conoscenze relative alla Storia dell’Architettura (nelle sue differenti declinazioni), i fondamenti riguardanti la cultura tecnologica e la capacità di leggere un organismo architettonico grazie agli strumenti del disegno e della rappresentazione.
The student must have the historical knowledge to critically read the material and immaterial signs of the built. He must also have acquired knowledge related to the History of Architecture (in its different forms), the fundamentals regarding technological culture and the ability to read an architectural organism thanks to the tools of drawing and representation.
L’insegnamento contempla tre moduli consequenziali. Il primo, ascrivibile alla Storia del Restauro, riguarda il periodo temporale antecedente alle codificazioni ottocentesche della disciplina. Il secondo, più propriamente riferito alla Teoria del Restauro, analizza il pensiero sulla tutela dal secolo XVIII fino agli orientamenti contemporanei in materia di restauro e conservazione. Il terzo, anche sulla base delle leggi vigenti e degli aspetti teorici e culturali dettati dalle più recenti carte del Restauro, fa riferimento al complesso dibattito attuale. Il corso sarà, quindi, rivolto all’acquisizione dei criteri critico-metodologici di lettura delle preesistenze storiche atti a perseguire la conservazione e il restauro dei beni culturali. Il corso prevede dunque lezioni ex-cathedra aventi per oggetto specifici temi di approfondimento caratterizzanti la disciplina del restauro. Tutto il corso può essere suddiviso in tre filoni tematici: la storia del restauro (pari a 3 crediti formativi) la teoria del restauro (pari a 3 crediti formativi) gli orientamenti contemporanei (pari a 2 crediti formativi).
The course includes three consequential modules. The first, ascribable to the history of restoration, concerns the period preceding the nineteenth-century codifications of the discipline. The second, more properly referred to the Theory of Restoration, analyzes the thought on the protection from the XVIII century up to the contemporary orientations regarding restoration and conservation. The third, also based on the laws in force and the theoretical and cultural aspects dictated by the most recent restoration papers, refers to the complex current debate. The course will, therefore, be aimed at acquiring the critical-methodological criteria for reading historical pre-existence aimed at pursuing the conservation and restoration of cultural heritage. The course, therefore, includes ex-cathedra lectures on specific topics of in-depth characterization of the restoration discipline. The whole course can be divided into three thematic areas: the history of restoration (equal to 3 formative credits) the theory of restoration (equal to 3 formative credits) and contemporary orientations (equal to 2 formative credits).
Oltre alle lezioni frontali, compatibilmente con le disposizioni ministeriali in materia di Covid-19 e garantendo l’erogazione del medesimo servizio in presenza e da remoto, saranno effettuate visite ad alcuni monumenti piemontesi analizzati durante il corso. Saranno previsti, sempre in conformità alle indicazioni nazionali e di Ateneo, momenti di confronto in aula con gli studenti sugli argomenti trattati.
In addition to the lectures, compatibly with the ministerial provisions on Covid-19 and ensuring the provision of the same service in presence and remotely, visits will be made to some Piedmontese monuments analyzed during the course. Always following national and university indications, moments of discussion in the classroom with students on the topics covered will be provided
Per ogni argomento il docente proporrà agli studenti alcune letture specifiche per stimolare la curiosità degli allievi. Ai fini dell’esame si consigliano i seguenti testi il cui studio approfondito è indispensabile per poter sostenere l’esame. E. Romeo, Instaurare, reficere, renovare, Celid/Lexis Torino 2017. S. Date le disposizioni d’Ateneo si precisa che il portale della didattica sarà un ulteriore strumento bibliografico e/o per l’approfondimento dei temi trattati secondo le indicazioni d’Ateneo che saranno fornite ai docenti e agli studenti.
For each topic, the teacher will propose to the students some specific readings to stimulate the students' curiosity. Modalità di esame: Prova scritta tramite PC con l'utilizzo della piattaforma di ateneo;
L’esame di valutazione in remoto prevederà un testo scritto con domande aperte riguardanti tutti i moduli del corso. A ogni domanda sarà assegnato il medesimo valore. Non sarà possibile utilizzare materiale bibliografico o appunti durante la prova. L’esame avrà una durata di 60 minuti.
Exam: Computer-based written test using the PoliTo platform;
The remote assessment exam will include a written text with open questions regarding all modules of the course. Each question will be assigned the same value. It will not be possible to use bibliographic material or notes during the test. The exam will last 60 minutes.

L’esame di valutazione in modalità mista si svolgerà con la medesima metodologia ipotizzata per l'esame in remoto. Prevederà un testo scritto con domande aperte riguardanti tutti i moduli del corso che potrà essere svolto o in aula sotto la sorveglianza dei docenti, o in remoto tramite le piattaforme di Ateneo. A ogni domanda sarà assegnato il medesimo valore. Non sarà possibile utilizzare materiale bibliografico o appunti durante la prova. L’esame avrà una durata di 60 minuti.

The blended mode assessment exam will take place with the same methodology as the remote assestment. It will include a written text, which it would be done in classroom, under the teachers supervision, or online through the Politecnico web infrastructure. The text will be costituted by open questions regarding all modules of the course. Each question will be assigned the same value. It will not be possible to use bibliographic material or notes during the test. The exam will last 60 minutes.
