A partire dal diritto di tutti all'inclusione, vale a dire dalla pari opportunità di partecipazione di ogni individuo a ogni aspetto della società, il corso mira a evidenziare i concetti base dell'approccio progettuale per conseguire tale inclusione, con l’obiettivo di concepire ambienti, sistemi, prodotti e servizi fruibili in modo autonomo da parte di persone con esigenze e abilità diversificate, coinvolgendo la diversità umana nel processo progettuale. Il corso si pone anche l’obiettivo di permettere agli studenti di incontrare vari portatori di interesse, tra i quali utenti finali, associazioni di volontariato, specialisti, operatori del settore, erogatori di servizi, tecnici e ricercatori. Ad alcuni studenti e su base volontaristica viene offerta l’opportunità di realizzare attività concrete di analisi, progettazione e realizzazione a favore di persone con disabilità diverse.
Starting from the fundamental right of inclusion, namely the equal participation of everyone in every aspect of society, who should be guaranteed to all human beings, the course aims to highlight the design approach based concepts to achieve such inclusion, with the aim of conceiving environments, systems, products and services which are usable independently from people with different needs and abilities. It is of importance to involve human diversity in the design process. In addition, the course lets students to meet with various stakeholders, including end users, voluntary associations, specialists, operators, service providers, technicians and researchers. Some students, chosen on voluntary basis, are offered with the opportunity to develop concrete activities of analysis, design and implementation of tools and solutions thought for subjects with various disabilities.
Il corso mira a: • Sensibilizzare gli studenti su: • Le condizioni in cui può trovarsi una qualsiasi persona in condizioni di disabilità • I problemi di comunicazione, mobilità, socializzazione, lavoro, che si incontrano in tali condizioni nella vita quotidiana; • Inquadrare il problema specifico della disabilità nel contesto più ampio della educazione alla diversità; • Evidenziare il ruolo che, come ingegneri, si ha il dovere di giocare in questo ambito; • Introdurre gli studenti alle disabilità motorie e agli ausili comunemente in uso; • Presentare i concetti fondamentali del Design for All, evidenziandone l’importanza, la necessità e l’ineludibilità; • Imparare a declinare il Design for All in contesti e domini applicativi diversi, attraverso i vari campi dell’Ingegneria e dell’Architettura; • Introdurre gli studenti ai concetti di OpenSource e OpenHardware; • Presentare testimonianze concrete e dirette dal mondo della disabilità, incontrando vari stakeholder, tra i quali end-user, associazioni di volontariato, specialisti, operatori del settore, erogatori di servizi, tecnici, ricercatori.
The course aims to: • Sensitize the students about: • The living conditions of people with disabilities • Communication, mobility, socialization, and working issues they daily met • Frame the specific problem of disability in the broader context of education in diversity • Highlight the role that engineers must play in this field • Spread among students the concept of motor disabilities and the tools commonly used by people suffering from them • Present the basic concepts of Design for All, highlighting its importance and necessity • Learn to apply the Design for All concepts in different contexts and application domains, crossing various fields of Engineering and Architecture • Introduce the concepts of OpenSource and OpenHardware • Present practical and direct testimonies from the world of disability, by letting students to meet several stakeholders, including end-user, voluntary associations, specialists, operators, service providers, caregivers, technicians, and researchers

Il corso è organizzato in: • Lezioni • Presentazione di esperienze/testimonianze • Attività addizionali (opzionali): • Hackability@Polito • Homework. Hackability@Polito Ad alcuni gruppi di studenti, scelti su base volontaristica e sulla base delle motivazioni e di eventuali esperienze nel mondo del Making, viene offerta la possibilità di: Scheda insegnamento -> definitiva • sviluppare ausili per la disabilità, co-progettandoli con gli end-user, a partire da un loro bisogno specifico; • avere accesso a laboratori specialistici e macchine per la prototipazione rapida; • lavorare in team alla soluzione del problema individuato; • presentare in aula i risultati del team; • rendere disponibili in formato open-source le soluzioni sviluppate. Homework Ad altri gruppi di studenti, scelti su base volontaristica e sulla base delle motivazioni e di eventuali esperienze, viene offerta la possibilità di: • affrontare problemi connessi con disabilità specifiche • confrontarsi con vari stakeholder • analizzare eventuali problemi da diversi punti di vista • identificare requisiti e redigere le specifiche di eventuali possibili soluzioni identificate • presentare in aula i risultati del lavoro.

Homework To other teams of students, selected on a voluntary basis and based on motivations and possible experiences, the course offers the opportunity to: • address problems associated with specific disabilities • deal with various stakeholders • analyze issues from different view points • identify and list specific requirements • present their results to classmates.

Per gli studenti coinvolti nelle attività di Hackability@Polito e negli Homework, l’esame consiste nella presentazione in aula del lavoro svolto e in una relazione dettagliata sul medesimo. Per gli altri studenti, l'esame consiste in una prova scritta mirante ad accertare, tramite domande di vario tipo, le conoscenze acquisite durante il corso.
Gli studenti e le studentesse con disabilità o con Disturbi Specifici di Apprendimento (DSA), oltre alla segnalazione tramite procedura informatizzata, sono invitati a comunicare anche direttamente al/la docente titolare dell'insegnamento, con un preavviso non inferiore ad una settimana dall'avvio della sessione d'esame, gli strumenti compensativi concordati con l'Unità Special Needs, al fine di permettere al/la docente la declinazione più idonea in riferimento alla specifica tipologia di esame.

For the students involved in the activities of Hackability@Polito and Homework, the exam consists of the presentation of the work done in the classroom and in a detailed report on the same. For the remaining students, the exam consists of a written test aimed at ascertaining, through various kinds of questions, the knowledge gained during the course.
In addition to the message sent by the online system, students with disabilities or Specific Learning Disorders (SLD) are invited to directly inform the professor in charge of the course about the special arrangements for the exam that have been agreed with the Special Needs Unit. The professor has to be informed at least one week before the beginning of the examination session in order to provide students with the most suitable arrangements for each specific type of exam.
