The Resources geology course is mainly aimed to provide geological skills for engineers involved in the petroleum and mining industry. The primary objectives of the first part - Introduction to the rock’s classifications and origin – introduction to sedimentology and stratigraphy concept - Sedimentary basins and sequence stratigraphy – sediments transport and deposition – facies and sedimentary environments. The second part is hydrocarbon origin, composition - geological principles and processes and relationships with hydrocarbons generation and accumulation processes. The third part focuses on the Mining Geology aspects. In particular, lessons introduce the fundamentals of the mineral resources generation, general introduction of surface and underground mine, mine mapping and sampling, resource estimation methods. General concepts of geochemical rocks composition. A fourth part regards the basic concepts of structural geology and geological mapping, geological data interpretation and correlation.

Intermediate knowledge of the main physics, base concepts of geology (Internal structure of the Earth, plate tectonics) and chemical phenomena. if knowledge of general concept of Geology is absent, this part will be made available on the portal through the didactic material.

Lessons will be held in plenary sessions. The exercises in the final part of the course were held in small groups directly in the classroom. Depending on the organization conditions, it could be possible to make a field trip.

The written examination (1 hours) consists of a set of questions, numerically evaluated. If the numerical assessment is sufficient (over 18/30) students can ask for an optional oral exam to improve the final evaluation.
In addition to the message sent by the online system, students with disabilities or Specific Learning Disorders (SLD) are invited to directly inform the professor in charge of the course about the special arrangements for the exam that have been agreed with the Special Needs Unit. The professor has to be informed at least one week before the beginning of the examination session in order to provide students with the most suitable arrangements for each specific type of exam.
