Obiettivi dell'insegnamento
The course aims at filling the gap between the course of Physics I (5 credits)and Chemistry (5 credits) and that of Fisica I (7,5 credits) and Chimica (7,5 credits).
Programma
Complements of Chemistry

-Atomic theory and chemical bonding; Molecular Orbitals, VSEPR and VB theory
-Thermodinamics and Thermochemistry. Standard enthalpies of reaction. Hess' law. Basics concepts concerning spontaneous chemical changes.
-Chemical kinetics. Rate of reaction, order of reaction, Arrhenius law. Activation energy.
-Organic chemistry, structure and properties of organic molecules, polymer synthesis, polymers structure and morphology, stabilization and degradation.
-Microscopies, optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy.
-Chemistry and energy
-Chemistry and environment
-Fundamentals of surface chemistry and plasma chemistry

Complements of Physics

the two aforesaid courses - Physics I of both 5 and 7.5 credits have substantially the same programme, that is to say they cover the same topics of Mechanics and Thermodynamics (including the Theory of propagation of errors, Universal gravitation, Kinetic theory of gases, etc.). The difference is in the highest in-depth examination of some topics and in the highest number and complexity of the exercises and problems presented (and solved). Therefore, some gaps in the preparation of the students will be filled, through the in-depth study of some topics of particular relevance and complexity, and many exercises will be presented and solved in order to help the students to face new issues, whose solution would not consist only in the application of some formulae or in the repetition of procedures already seen in similar problems.

Complements of Physics

exercises will nor be separated from the theory, but, as said before, the solution of problems will be a primary component of the course.
