Get the knowledge of the historical, theoretical and technical-operational bases of the Restauration through the evolution of the concept of safeguard and maintenance of architectural and environmental heritage.

The course intend to let the student become able to read and correctly evaluate all the major transformations and restoration work carried out on an architectural, urban, archaeological goods etc., in order to identify the most suitable choices to preserve, enhance and manage the Architectural and Environmental Heritage.

Disciplines of the History of architecture and urbanism.

The course aims to face some topics relating to the restoration of discipline focusing on the examination of aspects of both theoretical, and practical/application. The ex-cathedra lectures will focus on topics concerning both the history and theories of restoration from classical period up to the nineteenth-century codifications, focusing also on the current guidelines for restoration and conservation from an examination of the laws and theoretical, technical, operational and cultural issues dictated by the most recent laws and restoration charters.

Study tours will be conducted in some Italian cities to verify what explained in class.
