Environmental time-varying electric and magnetic fields in the frequency range up to 100 kHz can be generated by a wide variety of sources with different characteristics. The aim of the course is to provide a essential knowledge for the correct evaluation, measurement and mitigation of the electric and magnetic fields, with specific reference to the problem of assessing and limiting human exposure. To this end, students will be lead through the main physical interactions between electric and magnetic fields and human beings then, after a review of the common and dedicated numerical approaches; they will be introduced to the mitigation principles. Measurement issues will be faced with particular reference to characteristics of measuring instruments and measurement procedures.
