Il corso si svolgerà nel periodo gennaio-settembre

The aim of the course is threefold: first, to question the notion of “urban crisis” and to understand how dramatic change
affects mentality, use of spaces, planning and design practices; second, to explore the reaction of cities to the current crisis
and, in history, to critical events such as war, natural disasters, economic crashes, etc.; third, to study and experiment design
tools and approaches that foster resilience and reduce risk.

Il corso ha tre obiettivi: primo, indagare che cosa sia una “crisi urbana” e comprendere come cambiamenti repentini
influenzino mentalità, uso degli spazi, pratiche di progetto e di piano; secondo, esplorare la reazione delle città alla crisi e,
nella storia, ad eventi critici come guerre, disastri naturali, crolli economici etc.; terzo, studiare e sperimentare strumenti di
progetto ed approcci che migliorano la resilienza e riducono il rischio.

The course will alternate theoretical seminars and design workshops. Students will be asked to carry out active research and
to investigate both historical and contemporary case studies, to be rendered mainly by means of graphical representation,
data visualisation and information design. Theme related literature will be issued in advance. Case studies will be proposed
by students and discussed with teaching staff.

Il corso alternerà seminari teorici e laboratori di progetto. Gli studenti svolgeranno ricerca attiva investigando casi storici e
contemporanei, che restituiranno principalmente in forma grafica, visualizzando dati ed informazioni. La letteratura di
riferimento sarà segnalata in anticipo. I casi studio saranno proposti dagli studenti e discussi con i docenti.
