Presentazione
The “System Engineering” is an interdisciplinary approach aimed at developing and building complex systems through a systematic methodology. It can be considered as an effective tool used to proceed with the definition of requirements, missions, functions of the analyzed system, being then applied to design, build and test the system. It covers the whole product development, by including even cost analysis, planning, implementation, education, manufacturing (or production), testing, maintenance and end life managing. “System Engineering” includes some typical and technical issues, but evenly project management actions, aimed at assuring the product quality, the customer satisfaction, cost reduction and a suitable time to market. Up today “System Engineering” is widely used in industrial daily practice, but looks somehow less codified in the academic world, although several software were already developed for this activity, thus formalizing the related approach. Current needs of industry include system engineers, educated to apply this approach, through the available tools already developed for this purpose. Several industrial applications are foreseen, like the energy conversion (wind, nuclear, thermal, light), the transportation systems (aerospace, automotive, naval, railway) and information technologies (bank, assurance, telecommunications,…). |

Programma
Council of System Eng.), normative e “best practices”. This course includes theoretical and practical aspects of System Engineering. The approach is first introduced, then some examples are shown dealing with mechanical engineering (railways, industrial and micro systems) and aerospace engineering (aircrafts and spacecrafts), respectively. Test cases are selected to allow the students learning the theoretical and practical issues of this method, even through some software dedicated to this activity and introduced during the classes. To cope with those tasks the course is proposed by an industrial manager, Chief System Engineer at Alstom and by two professors of the DIMEAS, belonging the mechanical and aerospace engineering research groups, respectively. Topics in details are the following ones. System Engineering origins, motivations and development. The INCOSE, standards and best practices. Project/product life cycle concept. Overview on System Engineering technical processes and steps (ISO 15288). Focus on the requirements analysis and development. Focus on the three main system engineering analysis: Operational, Functional, Constructional. Model based System Engineering and introduction to SysML. Introduction to the ATEGO Artisan Studio as available tool for system modelling. Test cases study, railways systems, mechanical and aerospace. ATTENZIONE - IL CORSO POTREBBE NON ESSERE ATTIVATO QUALORA IL NUMERO DEGLI ISCRITTI FOSSE INFERIORE A 10. ATTENTION - THIS COURSE MAY NOT BE ACTIVATED WHEN THE NUMBER OF MEMBERS WERE LESS THAN 10. |
