Obiettivi dell'insegnamento
PERIODO: APRILE 2016
Il corso sarĂ tenuto dal Prof. Dr. Federico Becca (CNR Democritos, Trieste) The course is mainly addressed to Ph.D. students and young researches with little or no experience in quantum Monte Carlo methods, willing to learn how to deal with advanced numerical techniques to treat variational wave functions. Starting from problems defined on the lattice, e.g., by simple Hubbard, Heisenberg, and t-J models, I want to describe how accurate and stable simulations can be achieved and how variational wave functions can be optimized. Moreover, I will discuss how these variational wave functions can be improved, by using imaginary-time projection techniques, such as Green's function or reptation Monte Carlo methods. Before presenting the various Monte Carlo methods, I will devote some time to basic important concepts of probability theory. |
