Presentazione
The Laboratory of Drawing and Surveying aims to build the scientific foundations (theoretical and practical) of language of the design (and related codes); this is a discipline which represent the main form of expression of the architect.
Drawing and geometry are understood as "vision and conception of the world", according to the theoretical assumptions of practice (subjectivity and objectivity in representation), the critique of knowledge in the event of the project, from concept to completion, including visual characters (and perception in general) as a design parameter.
In this context the analysis of form needs to be fully understood - in all possible applications – as it is based on the culture of vision itself.
The term Survey need to be understood as an "open system of knowledge": this will include documentary research and interpretation, together with critical reading of the object of investigation and direct surveying.
At the end of the workshop the student will be able to use the language of drawing, including the methodologies and the latest techniques, to learn, to create, to interpret, to represent and to communicate.
Risultati di apprendimento attesi
The Laboratory aims to provide the knowledge and skills (i.e. the ability to apply the same knowledge) necessary to consciously apply the language of drawing.

Knowledge of the methods of encoded representation of descriptive geometry and graphic conventions at different scales and in different stages of reduction, both at analysis or at project level, including the ability of critical selection in visual communication project as well as the control of the procedures chosen.
Knowledge of the methods of interpretation analysis and the techniques for the acquisition of the existing metrics , also with reference to the traditional methods .
Knowledge of the methods of graphic communication, written-graphic, even with the support of multimedia technologies.
Ability to apply knowledge and understanding.
Ability to read and recognize the geometric and architectural basis of the built space, both historical and contemporary.
Ability to set up the stages of cognitive analysis with the target to show its peculiarities.
Ability to plan, coordinate and carry out surveys and to generate geometric, architectonics or thematic graphic renderings realized at different scales, together with a critical selection of the proper tools to be used in the private practice.
Ability to represent existing constructions and new projects through the application of traditional and innovative techniques, with a special focus on the latest development of the digital representation.
Prerequisiti / Conoscenze pregresse
Basic knowledge of Euclidean geometry and its lexicon.
Programma
The Laboratory consists of three main areas: Fundamentals and applications of descriptive geometry (4 CFU), Computer-aided drawing (3 CFU), Drawing and Surveying (5 CFU).
The Laboratory aims to provide the theory and the application of the design language into its many forms, from theory to practice to interpret the existing, manage the project and communicate successfully through the critical and graphic language.
The course will consist of :
• The drawing as a tool to learn, interpret and communicate design (10 hours)
• Vision / perception (5 hours)
• Orthographic projections, axonometric, perspective and theory of shadows (40 hours)
• To represent the project (10 hours)
• Analysis of graphic sources (5 hours)
• Tools for the representation infographic (30 hours)
• Survey as complex information system : to represent the constructed (20 hours)
Organizzazione dell'insegnamento
Each topic will include lectures and exercises, the ability to deliver projects which will be corrected and discussed directly with the students (some of the lessons will be held in classes, other activities will be held in teams, and some work will be individual), other group to develop critical attention to the sharing of a language and the ability to work in team mode's own professional architect, the final exam is individual) .
Testi richiesti o raccomandati: letture, dispense, altro materiale didattico
The bibliography will be provided during the lessons as thematic contributions to individual subjects.
Additional materials, selected by the teacher, will be available on the Web-Portal.
Criteri, regole e procedure per l'esame
The final exam will ensure the acquisition of knowledge and skill expectations. During the exam session the student will discuss their drawings that have been carried out in the form of an ex-tempore in the classroom (each of them will be assessed in thirtieth) and individual tutorials, with the adding of graphics developments and verbal considerations over the content and themes of the Laboratory.
In order to be admitted at the final exam each student must have shown along the course a sufficient knowledge of the theory and applications of the topics of the course.
During the exam, the review of the drawings already corrected and commented allows examiners to verify the level of ability to apply knowledge and understanding of the contents of course. All the drawings realized along the course will be returned to the student prior the exam, in order to allow a critical review of the errors recorded.
The ability of the student to interact effectively with the teacher will be part of the student evaluation, as well as the capability to independently manage the experience of the exercises with their respective outcomes (achievement of intermediate targets), together with the conscious application of the methods acquired and the capability to expose and effectively communicate their educational growth.
The workshop consists of three main areas: Fundamentals and applications of descriptive geometry (4 CFU), Computer-aided drawing (3 CFU), Drawing and Surveying (5 CFU): in order to pass the exam it is necessary that the student obtains a minimum rating of 18 / 30 in each of them.
The final grade will come from an average of the results obtained, weighted by the above CFU weights.
