Presentazione
PERIODO: GIUGNO - LUGLIO 2017
The course is organized in three sections. In the first, preliminary concepts of vibrational spectroscopy and its application to poly atomic molecules up to crystalline solids and the selection rules for infrared and Raman activities will be outlined. Metrology concepts on vibrational spectroscopy and the use of standard reference materials will be shown. Moreover advance applications such as surface enhance Raman spectroscopy will be studied. The application on the vibrational techniques in many important fields such as: forensic, biology , materials science and food will illustrated. The second part will be devoted to the presentation and discussion of application of IR spectroscopy, also carried out in controlled atmosphere, and electronic spectroscopy (absorption -also with circularly polarized light - phoroluminescence, both steady state and time resolved) to the investigation, at molecular level, of surface, interfacial (e.g, towards proteins) and bulk (e.g: for hybrid organic/inorganic materials) properties of nanomaterials. Finally, practical work at the lab will emphasize qualitative and quantitative chemical analysis techniques and the hands-on laboratory course will be focuses on development of correct metrology laboratory work habits and methodologies for the operation on modern vibrational techniques.
