PERIODO: MAGGIO 2016

The Guide to the expression of uncertainty in measurement (GUM), published in 1995 by BIPM, IEC, IFCC, ISO, IUPAC, IUPAP and OIML has now served well for almost twenty years, providing a common, universally agreed procedure for uncertainty evaluation. Recently, the Working Group 1 of the Joint Committee for Guides in Metrology (JCGM-WG1) also published two supplements to the GUM and it is currently developing a number of new documents in order to overcome some of the limitations intrinsic in the GUM approach.
In this course, the main aspects of the uncertainty evaluation will be addressed together with their application to a number of metrological examples. Relevant references and available softwares will be presented in order to provide the more update and useful tools for each experimenter to calculate the uncertainty to be associated with his/her measurement results.
