Students will come to know a range of methods in fluid dynamics and nonlinear dynamics that are widely used in the modeling of bio-physical problems. |
Programma
A. Ecology and Environmental Problems: The Gaia Hypothesis: Interaction of Life and Atmosphere. Food
Networks: Managing Fish Resources, Preventing Extinction, Plankton Dynamics. Artificial Intelligence, Quantifying Complexity, and Theories of Evolution. Animal Swarms. B. Bio-Mechanics: Walking, Jumping, and Running: Humans, Insects, and Dinosaurs. Special topic Walking Upside Down: Insects and Geckos. Swimming: Squid and Fish vs. Sperms and Ciliates. Special topic Sandfish: Swimming in Sand. Flying: Birds, Bads, and Bunblebees. C. Bio-Materials: Spider Silk. Nonlinear Elasticity: Shells, Peels and Capsids. Drag Reduction: Sharks vs. Ducklings. Water Transport in Trees. The course will be oriented mainly to PhD students. Interested second level students will be accepted. |
