Presentazione
PERIODO: FEBBRAIO 2017
The course will focus on the Chinese garden as an interpretative category for issues of heritage and identity. The course’s aim is twofolds: using a variety of verbal and visual sources, the course 1) will discuss the influence of Chinese garden design on Western garden art from the 18th- to the 20th century; 2) it will explore how traditional garden design has informed contemporary landscape architecture in China and the design of Chinese-style gardens in geographical contexts far away from China. Analysing the forms of the evocation/reinterpretation of vernacular features, the course will will propose a discussion of the role of design in the perception of cultural heritage and in the construction of a local identity. |
Programma
The course will consist of lectures and discussions. It will be organised in three sessions scheduled for February 2017:
