PERIOD: FEBRUARY - APRIL The course aims to integrate the knowledge of CAD tools for the development of industrial product and to acquire the most advanced technologies of advanced CAD systems in order to model parts and assemblies of high complexity. Moreover, the course presents the application of CAD/CAE technologies to design, simulation and virtual verification applied to the product development. Through practical examples and simulation models will be developed models and simulation with the aim to evaluate the achievements and limits of the proposed tools. The course will be structured as a practical workshop, aimed at the skills needed to take the exam for certification CSWA (Certified SolidWorks Associate) and CSWP (Certified SolidWorks Professional) recognized at international level and certifying the skills of the student on the software SolidWorks. Expected learning outcomes Acquisition of methods and techniques of representation of "industrial project" through the use of parametric and associative CAD. Good knowledge of methodologies of implementation of kinematic and dynamic simulation, in support of the development process of industrial products (mechanical functional design). Prerequisite Basic knowledge of mechanical design

From CAD component to complex systems and FEM analysis: introduction to tools and software technologies available for product development; summary of concepts of Computer Aided Design software with 3D models of components and assemblies related to mechanical topics; relationships between modelling (CAD environment) and different tools of simulations (CAE environment). Discussion on examples of CAD/CAE modelling and integration in order to achieve the CSWA and CSWP certification Course structure Modeling parts and assemblies with SolidWorks; advanced sketching, extrusion parts, assembled bottom-up, drawing. Use of configurations and equations. Multibody solids. Advanced modeling functions: sweep, loft, flex, deform. Advanced modeling of surfaces. Modeling assembled with a top-down technique. Modeling of sheet metal parts and welded. Reading materials E. Chirone, S. Tornincasa, Disegno Tecnico Industriale, vol. I e II, ed. Il Capitello, 2018. Assessment and grading criteria The grading criteria consists in passing the CSWA test and evaluation of the exercises conducted during the course.

Exam:
In addition to the message sent by the online system, students with disabilities or Specific Learning Disorders (SLD) are invited to directly inform the professor in charge of the course about the special arrangements for the exam that have been agreed with the Special Needs Unit. The professor has to be informed at least one week before the beginning of the examination session in order to provide students with the most suitable arrangements for each specific type of exam.
