PERIOD: FEBRUARY - MARCH Aims of course: This course addresses frequency-domain computational techniques for the analysis of 'serious' antenna problems. The challenges come from the need to apply computational electromagnetics to real-life antenna and antenna platform design. The course will give a working knowledge of a number of topics that allow to solve challenging antenna problems. While addressing advanced topics, it is structured so as to give attendees a practical understanding of problems, the techniques to solve them, and of how to implement them.

Course contents: Review of Method of Moments (MoM) fundamentals: MoM formulation, Low order bases (RWG), implementation details. Antenna modeling issues. Problem conditioning. Roadmap to advanced topics. Aggregate-compressive methods: aggregate functions, strategy, implementations. High-density mesh problems. 'Low-frequency' issues in antenna modeling. Mesh-related issues: solenoidal decomposition (and limitations). Multi-resolution methods. Introduction to multiresolution (MR) analysis: MR-MoM for printed antennas, MR-MoM for 3D structures

Exam:
In addition to the message sent by the online system, students with disabilities or Specific Learning Disorders (SLD) are invited to directly inform the professor in charge of the course about the special arrangements for the exam that have been agreed with the Special Needs Unit. The professor has to be informed at least one week before the beginning of the examination session in order to provide students with the most suitable arrangements for each specific type of exam.
