PERIOD: NOVEMBER The course will be focused on a short insight into different catalysts for in Alcohol FCs and H2/O2 PEMFC. In this part different catalyst (based in platinum and non-platinum metals and alloys and different substrates: Carbon Vulcan Nanotubes…ect) will be studied in order to know some important aspects from the synthesis and characterization, in connection with the final application in the AFC or PEMFC device. The different parts of the fuel cell will be studied (Gas diffusion layers, solid electrolytes, bipolar plates…ect), highlighting the importance and the problems of the different parts in the systems. The good performance and the important aspecst in acid and alkaline fuel cells will be also discussed. The study on batteries will focus first on Advanced Lead/acid batteries. The actual application on micro-hibrid vehicle of the Enhanced Flooded Batteries will be analyzed keeping in mind the requirements as: Cycling ability in Partial State of Charge and the Recharge ability in automatic Stop&Star functions. Metal air batteries (Al/air), as second part, will be studied as Gel batteries and Sea Water batteries focusing the analysis into the final applications for industry.

Exam:
In addition to the message sent by the online system, students with disabilities or Specific Learning Disorders (SLD) are invited to directly inform the professor in charge of the course about the special arrangements for the exam that have been agreed with the Special Needs Unit. The professor has to be informed at least one week before the beginning of the examination session in order to provide students with the most suitable arrangements for each specific type of exam.
