The optional course is intended to introduce the concepts and technologies supporting autonomous driving and autonomous vehicles. The course is highly multidisciplinary and is based on three main pillars: - basic concepts of vehicle dynamics, which will cover the mechanical aspects related to the dynamics of a ground vehicle; - basic concepts of vehicle dynamic control, which will cover from the automatic control perspective the problem of controlling the dynamic behaviour of a ground vehicle; - basic concepts of information technologies for autonomous vehicle, which will cover the technological aspects enabling the implementation of autonomous ground vehicles, such as sensors for autonomous vehicles, computing platforms and algorithms for autonomous vehicles.

The course will include theoretical lectures as well as experimental lectures held with the help of a vehicle dynamic simulator. The theory concepts will be first presented restoring to formal lectures and exercises held in class. These concepts will then be addressed from a practical point of view through laboratory experiments.

Modalità di esame: Prova scritta (in aula);
Exam: Written test;
... The exam consists of a 60 minutes written exam, closed book, where students will be asked to illustrate theory concepts, as well as to solve exercises by applying the theory concepts. The maximum score for the written exam is 33. Students have the possibility of developing optional assignments, which will provide a maximum score of 6. The final score is obtained by adding the written exam score to the optional assignment score. In case the final score is 33, the final grade is 30L.

In addition to the message sent by the online system, students with disabilities or Specific Learning Disorders (SLD) are invited to directly inform the professor in charge of the course about the special arrangements for the exam that have been agreed with the Special Needs Unit. The professor has to be informed at least one week before the beginning of the examination session in order to provide students with the most suitable arrangements for each specific type of exam.
