This course covers two related fields, innovation and international transactions law. The main focus is on ICT and IP law. After a preliminary introduction of the program and its objectives, the course will focus on law & technology pointing out the exiting relationship between society, law, market and technology development. The other sections of this course are divided into two main parts dealing with ICT and IP law. A complementary final section concerns transactions law and aims to provide a general overview of the principles of international contracts and cross-border transactions. The two main parts of the course are divided into several building blocks to address the different topics that characterize the regulatory debate and the practical implementation of ICT and IP law. In this regard, both theoretical issues and case-based problems will be addressed, giving students the opportunity to better understand the regulatory framework and its practical applications (e.g. policies, agreements, legal risk management).

Students will become more aware of the interplay between law and technology, with a special focus on the most innovative and challenging applications in the ICT and industrial sectors. They will have a greater understanding of the regulatory issues concerning the ongoing datafication process and its impact on society and business, as well as the issues regarding the protection of innovation and the related international agreements.

The course is divided into lectures, during which students' contributions will be encouraged, and group activities.

Exam: Written test;

... The final exam aims to evaluate the students’ understanding of the different topics discussed during the course and how much students apply the acquired notions to various cases. The exam is written and is 60 minutes in duration: it is divided into four open questions focused on different topics addressed during the course. Each question worth 7,5 points maximum. It is not allowed to communicate with others during the exam, use a phone, and keep and consult notebooks, books, slides, and forms.
