PERIOD: MAY - JUNE Mobility and transport of goods have always accompanied evolution of human beings, being fundamental to our society and economy, representing an enabling factor for evolution and job creation. The widespread use of motorised mobility and of freight transport, based on the universal choice of black-oil almost at the beginning of last century, has brought to the useful common choice of a unique energy source, which has at the same time covered a near-monopoly condition in all transport modes; yet mobility and transport have to be free as far as possible and sustainable in an innovative way. Transport systems must be sustainable in the light of the challenges to be faced in terms of energy efficiency and share of renewables, GHG emissions, noise pollution and safety. Transport is also global, so effective action requires strong international cooperation. The course aims at highlighting these issues and at presenting an outlook to the next decades for different transport scenarios in terms of energy efficiency as well as shift to electricity and alternative fuels. The subject will then focus on surface transport and analyse the key factors to lower transport dependency on black-oil and emissions in the EU as in the rest of the world, i.e. the new technologies and solutions for transport systems, vehicles and traffic management with the related transport infrastructure and installations.

Exam:
In addition to the message sent by the online system, students with disabilities or Specific Learning Disorders (SLD) are invited to directly inform the professor in charge of the course about the special arrangements for the exam that have been agreed with the Special Needs Unit. The professor has to be informed at least one week before the beginning of the examination session in order to provide students with the most suitable arrangements for each specific type of exam.
