PERIOD: FEBRUARY - MARCH The Course aims introducing young researchers to urban climate planning. His targets are key studies identification, new frontiers of research, tools and methods.
PERIOD: FEBRUARY - MARCH The Course aims introducing young researchers to urban climate planning. His targets are key studies identification, new frontiers of research, tools and methods.
Course Format: 3 hours of lecture and discussion per week. Around 60 pages pof mandatory readings. Prerequisites: 01REMRS or consent of instructor. Urban Planning for Climate Change is an intensive course for PhD students offered by Politecnico di Torino that introduce to climate planning in urban areas and explores the new frontiers of research in this global issue. Guided by an urban and regional planner with 25 years of planning experience abroad, students learn how cities exposed to hydro-climatic hazards face climate change through stand-alone plans or mainstreaming risk reduction actions in existing planning tools. The Course builds understanding of the global action to reduce climate change and his impacts and introduce to most relevant studies in this field. Students are expected to increase their skills in identifying promising sectors of research and action-research identification and development. Topics which will be covered include: 1 The Rise and Future of Urban Planning for Climate Change; 2 Climate Planning Scales and Categories; 3 State of Climate Planning; 4 Analysis for Planning; 5 The Climate Planning Process.

In addition to the message sent by the online system, students with disabilities or Specific Learning Disorders (SLD) are invited to directly inform the professor in charge of the course about the special arrangements for the exam that have been agreed with the Special Needs Unit.
